The offer

Niall Benvie is one of Europe’s most innovative nature photographers and has lectured on his work in the UK, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Israel, Norway and the United States. He has published half a million words of articles and books (including over 100 features for Outdoor Photography) and is the main writer on the 2020VISION project.

The offer Niall makes is a little different to most speakers. Yes, he charges a fee and quite a sizeable one at that. But he also provides a 6 hour workshop on the day preceding the evening of his show, free of charge to the club or society. Between the fees the club can charge for participation in the field workshop and ticket sales, many organisations are able to turn a booking into a profit.

Day

Drawing upon the content of his last book, Outdoor Photography Masterclass, participants in the workshop learn about novel techniques including “landscape deconstruction”, putting words in images and using the field studio as well as  receving a boost to their own creativity in the process. Post production work in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop provides the focus for indoor work.

Night

Niall has been a professional photographer and writer for the past 18 years and in his presentation, Beyond the Frame, he encourages viewers to realise their creative potential by introducing a whole range of ideas about how best to express their personal vision of the natural world and our place in it. The main presentation lasts 1 hour with the option of an additional 15 minute audio visual show.
